Good effort! However, you do not need to refer to skirt and red with a preceding "the." By saying "the skirt," it implies you have a very special one that everybody knows about. If this is not true, then you could say "a skirt."
Here is my suggestion for your submission:
I am wearing a red skirt. OR
I now wear a skirt. It is red.

The man is driving his car, not riding his bicycle. The boy is playing football, not reading his book. I am having a haircut, I am not eating my lunch.
